Dynamic art educator with a proven track record at Palmer ISD, adept in project-based learning and digital art proficiency. Successfully mentored students for competitive events (and the official Mentors Care program), fostering artistic expression and critical thinking. Committed to creating inclusive environments that empower students to thrive creatively and socially, while advocating for the arts in education.
I worked with teachers to identify students needing extra support and provided both individual and group instruction to boost academic performance and test readiness. I helped students build effective study habits, manage their time, and develop a growth mindset focused on long-term success.
As the sole visual arts educator at Palmer High School (and in the district), I design and implement a comprehensive, student-centered curriculum that encourages creativity, and critical thinking across multiple disciplines, including drawing, painting, photography, and mixed media. I serve as the department lead, managing all aspects of the visual arts program- from classroom instruction and curriculum development to budgeting, and organizing student exhibitions.
I mentor students for competitive events such as the Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE), with several advancing to the State level and earning top scores. Beyond the classroom, I sponsor the Art Club and Yearbook team, providing students with leadership opportunities and creative outlets that extend their learning. My approach integrates real-world applications, including portfolio building, gallery presentations, and digital art experiences. I actively promote equity and inclusion through diverse, responsive curricula and by creating a classroom culture that values every student’s voice. At the heart of my work is a belief that the arts empower students to express who they are, connect with others, and grow into confident, reflective individuals. I want my class to be a comfortable and safe space, where students (no matter their skill level) can grow from the beginning of one school year to the end.
Kept the environment clean and safe by regularly sanitizing dishes, tables, toys, and commonly touched surfaces to help stop the spread of germs. I closely supervised children (ages infant to 4 yr old) at all times to ensure their safety and followed safety rules and procedures. When needed, I provided basic first aid and handled situations effectively. I also used positive behavior strategies to support healthy social skills and emotional growth.

Being named Teacher of the Year in both 2021 and 2025 is an honor that means a great deal to me- not because of recognition, but because I feel it reflects the love and effort I pour into my students every day. I care deeply about creating a safe, supportive environment where students feel seen, challenged, and inspired. Balancing my master’s studies while being the lead sponsor to the junior and senior classes, coordinating campus events, leading EF tours, and mentoring through our school’s mentoring program has been demanding, especially while navigating personal challenges that sometimes made it hard to stay motivated at time. But those very challenges push me to give my best. I believe that when students know you’re truly there for them- in the classroom, in life, and in the little moments- that’s where real growth happens, for them and for me!
