Empowering parents/caregivers who have children struggling with mental health or behavioral health needs, helping them to navigate and receive mental health services within the County Mental Health System. Supporting parents and caregivers acquire mental health knowledge through education, creating understanding and awareness within the family and community. Develop and provide effective supports respecting the unique culture and history of each family. Promote partnership between families, mental health providers, health care providers and other agency/school personnel. Provide parental and family advocacy, support and help with school related special needs challenges. Community resources linkage and referrals assist parents with Family Goal Planning, resource referrals. Provide 1:1 support to families.

Built rapport with parents and children to foster trust and communication to meet case plans. Completed frequent visits to family homes to check on progress. Utilized experience in child welfare system to better serve parents. Coordinated and managed agency referrals to get parents additional resources. Modeled appropriate parenting techniques to help parents improve skills.

Follow up to ensure child/youth linkage to outpatient services after discharge from acute hospitalization to prevent recidivism.

Provide peer to peer support, individually, or in a group setting through trainings, support and encouragement. Participated in county wide mental health outreach events to promote mental health awareness, education and reduce stigma.

Provide parents and family members support, education, and community resources. Attend special events, conferences, continuing educational trainings and workshops with in the community. Assisted families in connecting with Medical Insurance including Med-Cal, IEHP and Molena coverage.

Provided families/caregivers with community resources, educational and support. Assisted parents/caregivers with Medical Insurance/Medi-Cal/IEHP and Molina coverage.
