I have over 20 years in the law enforcement environment specifically assigned to the inventory care, custody and control of evidence related to criminal cases.
This position is a non-sworn position, and I was successful in being one of the original founding members of the Maricopa Police Department.
Under my management and direction, I created the Property/Evidence Unit from the ground up. I worked with other Law Enforcement agencies, state and federal laws and ordinances, and successfully developed our evidence storage and processing process. In the 17 years under my supervision, not one item has been lost or misplaced. We have successfully attained CALEA certification which is a nationally recognized accreditation organization.
I have also been successful in the movement of the entire evidence room 4 times. I was responsible for the planning and coordination of movers and auditors. The most recent move was in August 2024 with over 14,000 items.
My expertise is in inventory management of high value and sensitive items so that prosecutors can successfully get convictions. Handling large amounts of narcotics, firearms and cash is part of this process on a daily basis.
I have also been successful with assisting two other police agencies with the creation and development of their Property/Evidence units. This involved traveling to their location, auditing, recommending improvements and policies as well as assisting them with storage recommendations.
