  • Duties include but are not limited to: quality assurance of electronic orders entered by providers for patients admitted to the hospital, emergency department (ED), specialty clinics, or any of the four off-site Wisconsin hospital pharmacies that we monitor per contract when they are “after hours,” checking every patients MAR each shift for appropriate dosing, duplicates and safety checks (I.e. if patient has a narcotic scheduled or available on a “PRN” basis they should also have several forms or Narcan on their MAR also, etc), signing off each medication filled as part of a new order or cart fill before it goes to the floor, verifying and checking off on any compounds made or oral/IV doses drawn up by technicians, utilize the cameras in the IV room for high level verification of each step of sterile IV compounds made step by step, maintain all USP 797 standards for the hospital pharmacy sterile compounding as well as personal requirements it has so that I am able to compound if/when that ever becomes necessary, foster positive working relationships between the inpatient pharmacy and the hospital staff (including nurses, physicians, ED staff, OR staff, etc.) which will create better efficiency and outcomes for the hospital, maintain an environment where everyone in the pharmacy (technicians and pharmacists) feel valued and respected, I maintain a friendly and personable attitude so everyone feels they can approach me with questions or concerns, maintain high levels of security and accountability when handling controlled substances, keep all of the required information and training modules up to date.
