Evaluate a patient's medical history and physical condition to determine the best type of device to use. Insert appropriate vascular access device based on assessment. Identify and correct issues with existing vascular access devices. Collaborate with physicians and the radiology department to confirm appropriate line position.

• Night shift VA nurse for a 675 bed metropolitan hospital
• Efficient with both the SonoSite and SiteRite US machines
• Successfully places PICC lines in highly complicated patients with other invasive vascular devices
• Positive rapport and collaborator with patients, staff, and physicians
• Able to troubleshoot issues with existing lines, perform over wire exchanges, attain and maintain sterile technique and field

• Assess patients with challenging vascular access requirements and selection of appropriate device for prescribed therapy
• Review medical chart for any contraindications to central vascular access
• Collaborate with the patient's medical care team to ensure the successful insertion of the most appropriate vascular access device
• Provide vascular access education to patients, family members and members of the care team

• Overseeing patients with specialty infusion needs in the home and infusion suite setting
• Coordination with specialty pharmacy and case management for delivery of infusion supplies and services
• Medications to include enzyme replacement, TPN/Lipids, antibiotics and IG therapies

• Care of the critically ill pediatric patient with congenital heart defects and children with sudden life threatening cardiac events
• Care of the pediatric patient with LVAD
• CRRT certified

• Overseeing patients with long term IV therapy needs in the home and/or infusion suite setting
• Maintenance of PICC lines in the outpatient setting
• Obtaining labs and monitoring results to assess response to therapy
• Providing education on line care and medication administration to patients and family caregivers

• Overseeing a multidisciplinary team in the care of the terminally ill patient
• Provide wound care for pressure wounds, skin tears, and shearing injuries
• Provide education and support to patients and family members during the dying process

• Responsible for reviewing medical records to ensure patient is eligible for same day surgery
• Completing the legal consents prior to procedure
• Providing reliable vascular access for surgery

• Assessing potential patient candidates for organ donation by referral follow up in the hospital setting
• Medical management of the donor patient in the ICU setting
• Locating and placing viable organs to would be recipients across the country

• Assessment and care of critically ill and premature infants
• Experience includes management of conventional ventilators, HFOV, and the use of Nitric
• Assessment and care of the micro-preemie infant
• Experience with gestational age from 23 weeks and less than 500 grams
• Assessment and care of infants born to substance abusing mothers to include heroin, cocaine, methadone and marijuana
• Charge RN experience and attending high risk deliveries
• Overseeing a overnight staff of 6-8 nurses
• Experienced preceptor to new nurses

• Staff RN in level three NICU from 2008-2009 with responsibilities as described above
• PICU nurse with proficiency in assessing and managing the care of the critically ill pediatric patient, ranging from newborn to early twenties
• Experienced in the care of patients with trauma, diabetic ketoacidosis, venemous injuries and chronic illnesses
• PICU charge nurse responsible for attending and overseeing pediatric rapid responses and determining the need for higher level of care, if any
