Scheduled closing 3 weeks post Hurricane Ian Disaster. It was a long arduous Home Sale, located 4 minutes from Bonita Beach front.. Personally, secured CO, Elevation Certificate, Survey & Appraisal, Inspections & everything set for closing. Hurricane hit the home, 3 ft. water intrusion.
Personally, brought my crew of family the next day and we cleared out all the furniture and items. Then moved onto other homes.
Then procured & hired 2 demolition teams for Mold Remediation.. Secured them for 3 other homes at least.
There birthed the journey of becoming a "Disaster Relief Home Project Manager"*** secured Vendors & bids, communicating with them and my Clients; hired, scheduled, meetings with Contractors, Sub-Contraction, Engineers, Insurance Adjustors, Assisted in Fema Appointments & Permit Dept. while navigating the new 50/50 ordinance.
*Headed into N. Ft. Myers to assist where needed. Navigated the whole Disaster Relief only to be able to secure private money and home re-building materials, appliance and furnishings, clothes, food and water for the Ft. Myers Shores neighborhood. Found many Churches had arrived (the government had not) to help with everything. Filmed people telling their stories and checked back with them, arriving with whatever I collected or could give.
*REhomed a PTSD Marine Vet with his 2 dogs after his Mobile Home went under water, It took months of personally moving him around and securing finances for him & his beloved dogs. Finally at the 11th hour, truly miraculously, a more permanent home opportunity became available, stayed in follow-up with him through out.
*Organized & held a Pizza block party in The Ft Myers Shore community giving out Food, Water and Clothes, & Shoes for the Children. Organized with a group from the East Coast that came over with the goods and to celebrate with the Victims/ Survivors.
Since Hurricane Ian and my work experience in the aftermath; I've (mostly) secretly have been longing to officially work on a team in a Non- Profit Disaster Relief Home Rehab organization! Needless to say, that learning of Rearming Together upon my arrival, in a very recent move to Arcadia: I feel very excited about the proposed opportunity to work as a Team Member of ReHoming Together, in a shared passion & vision for Healing people and their Homes.
