  • When I began this position our IQI score was 3%
  • It is currently 55%
  • Some of the issues are not easily remedied, such as hospitalizations, but I have worked hard to obtain the monthly KT/V labs and increased the compliance from 60% to 99%
  • I have also assisted with educating the team regarding infection control, documentation, and educating the patients about fluid intake when they notice that a patient has gained large amounts of fluid
  • I do audits of the logs as well as the teammates
  • I audit patient charts and educate the team when I notice issues with documentation
  • I work closely with the Nephrologist and the CRNP regarding pt
  • Issues including anemia, potassiums and any other abnormal lab work.

  • I precepted new teammates in the hospital working closely with them for 8 weeks
  • It was time consuming but rewarding
  • The audits were yearly and I was responsible for the Plan ofCorrection until the last few months when the FA's took that portion over
  • It was a very rewarding position but I relocated back to Pa
  • And the CNM position was offered to me.

Charge RN, PD RN and Acute dialysis RN

  • As the Charge RN, I was responsible for patient assessments, medication administration, educating the patients about dialysis, diet, weight gains, etc., rounding with the MD, and treating any patients issues that arose
  • I was responsible for 24 patients in a clinic that has 3 turnovers a day
  • In the Acute care setting I was responsible for performing HD on patients in the hospital setting both stable and unstable.

Travel RN

  • I was a travel RN throughout the country in ER's and Dialysis both acutes and chronics
  • I had to be able to adapt to new environments quickly as most of the contracts were 13 weeks
  • I enjoyed it but decided to settle with my husband in Florida when he retired
  • I was also a Flight RN for a year on the Navajo Reservation
  • Without a doubt the best part of my nursing career.

  • I resided in Harrisburg at the time and commuted 3-4 days a week
  • I do not recall the exact number of patients I was responsible for but it was between 90-100 in 15 -20 different clinics
  • My role was to meet with the patient and family and educate them about dialysis, dietary restrictions, lab results and there meaning, medication review and education, ways to monitor their weight between treatments
  • I was required to do home visits in the beginning and then yearly
  • The goal of the program was to keep the patient out of the hospital
  • I was also responsible for the computer documentation
  • I relocated and gave up the position.
