Claim Team Manager - Medical Resources

  • Develops high performing teams that regularly exceed production targets and provide support to Fire Casualty Claims, PIP/MPC Claims, SIU, and Injury Claims.
  • Mentors and coach’s employees preparing them for future enterprise opportunities. In 2024, my team had 2 LDA’s, 3 TWA’s, and one employee promoted to Team Manager.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for P&C claims on various claim tools such as Autopay, 3PET, and the Medical bill review system. Regularly initiates technology updates that increase efficiency and allow State Farm to pay what we owe.
  • Combining claims background and medical background, lead the development and implementation of four new claims workshops in 2024 and 2025 – Traumatic Brain Injuries, Soft Tissue, Knee Injuries, and Shoulder Injuries. Objective of workshops is to increase the accuracy of modeling injuries and Claim Specialists confidence in negotiating those injuries
  • Provides litigation support to both Corporate legal and external defense counsel on AMA, Medicare, billing, coding, and application of fee schedule, which is used to build litigation strategy and strong defense, reducing need/cost of outside experts
  • Collaborates with One CLC to develop and implement claims injury training in support of their goals. In 2024 offered four training sessions that were attended by over 1700 attorneys and paralegals.
  • Closely monitors external regulatory environment (Medicare, Workers Compensation, Case Law, Statute…) and effectively communicates impact analysis to key stakeholders
  • Led the department Quality Pillar in 2024 and Expense Pillar in 2025. Increased employee engagement in department by creating employee committees tied to pillar work.

  • Led Medical Resources Department through Optimization review that increased flexibility within the department allowing us to easily move people resources to the highest priority work and highest demand
  • Successfully onboarded two new Medical Resources Team Managers providing them with the training, tools, and support to lead high performing teams.
  • As business partners needs changed, identified an opportunity to create a new position in our department to handle less complex tasks, allowing Consultants and Analysts to focus on high complex tasks that are more commensurate with their skill set.

  • Led diverse teams of employees during tenure as Process Manager Process analysts, Claims Automation, Claims Trainers, Team Managers, Injury Claim Trainers, and Nurse Reviewers, with focus always on process improvement/maximum utilization of people and technology resources
  • LDA as PIP Section Manager - led Team Managers and employees from various departments who were currently operating under a transition plan. Section was able to produce over 100k tasks in order bring PIP in SLO and over 70% of the employees in the section received and accepted job offers in claims
  • Reported directly to Claim Manager and worked side by side with PIP and SIU Section Managers, helping them successfully lead their operations by providing just in time data, training, process improvements, and technology updates.
  • Led strategic project work that included review, analysis, and implementation of ECS changes, training, bill review system changes, and defined litigation strategy, due to updates in the Florida statute, Florida policy, and case law.
  • Regularly prepared and presented executive summaries that included solutions for volatile external market that was leading to an increase in frequency, severity, and litigation
