As a teacher in a self-contained autism unit, I had the opportunity to create interactive content to teach the state's curriculum as well as collecting data that corresponded with Individualized Education Plans and Behavior Intervention Plans. Each student's needs and special accomodations were always prioritized. I took pride in providing not only an academically engaging environment but also a safe environment in which all of the students' basic needs could be met.
As a teacher's assistant at UCP, I would frequently step in for the teacher and teach planned lessons. I would assist with behaviors and test tracking as well.
As a program assistant at Dr. Phillips in their self contained unit, I would often assist with Behavior Intervention Plans and everyday routines implemented in the classroom. I would also assist during lessons taught by the primary teacher.
As a preschool teacher, I would incorporate music, art, and literature into the lessons taught daily. There was a mixture of meeting students' basic needs as well as teaching lessons that progressively became more complex.
