Soup Kitchen Volunteer

Various Local Charities and Churches
12.2000 - Current

I grew up doing volunteer work. My mom would bring me to help feed the poor. When I was little I would play with the other kids. When I got older, I’d help cook and clean etc and also socialize with the patrons. I still do this when I can.

Teacher’s Aid (volunteer)

Various Worcester Public Schools
12.2012 - 12.2012
  • Supported classroom maintenance and upkeep, organizing books, and materials.
  • Supported classroom activities, tutoring, and reviewing work.
  • Helped with grading assignments and tests, providing constructive feedback to students based on results.
  • I volunteered at my Moms school as she was the school NP during midterms and finals week
  • Partnered with teacher to plan and implement lessons following school's curriculum, goals, and objectives.

I did the usual things

Afterschool Teacher/ Daycare

Guild Of St. Agnes Early Education And Child Care
08.2021 - 10.2023
  • I was able to get the autistic children to transition from the bus to the classroom (nobody else could)
  • I was able to get the autistic children to do the arts and crafts (nobody else could)
  • I “became” one of the kiddos - playing with them, talking TO them not down on them.
  • I knew who the cliques were, who not to sit together etc (nobody else did)
  • I was able to lay down the law when necessary, being firm but not mean, and COMPROMISING is important to me
  • I was able to help teach the kids DBT skills to help redirect them (nobody else did)
  • I made learning FUN not a chore!
  • I did the art with them as I’m an artist as well
  • I had EXCELLENT relationships with the kiddos, their parents/guardians, and my coworkers (except one who didn’t like me)
  • Despite having the head teacher not like me, I remained professional, friendly and I tried to please her by doing my job above and beyond. I resigned because I was getting burnt out by her, but NEVER from the kids

CNA With the Elderly

The Families of the Individuals
01.2016 - 01.2019
  • Assisted patients with daily living activities, promoting independence and dignity.
  • Checked patient vitals such as temperature, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels.
  • Promoted good oral and personal hygiene by aiding patients with shaving, bathing, and teeth brushing.
  • Enhanced patient satisfaction by providing compassionate and attentive care.
  • (The dates are approximations as I only remember the years)

Summer Camp Counselor

City of Worcester Parks and Recreation
05.2016 - 09.2016
  • Worked with children of varying age, interest, skill, and developmental levels.
  • Led groups of children safely through variety of camp activities.
  • Supported children by actively listening and offering encouragement.
  • Organized and guided group activities by leading, coaching, and participating with campers.
  • I actually completely redesigned the curriculum! My boss Ron was a very kind and supportive man. I only left the job because I was told I aged out.
  • They had to read a lot and then write what they read- I asked if they could DRAW what they read instead, as the kids weren’t happy about it and I believed they should enjoy their summer break, while still learning the value of reading . Ron loved that idea!
  • I was in charge of the camp play, Black Panther and so I also made it educational and taught the kids (predominantly black kids) about the REAL Black Panthers for whom the marvel character is based upon
  • I tried to instill pride into those children as far too often black youth hate themselves to varying degrees and I firmly believe we need to love ourselves and our community
  • An issue of racism occurred by another staff member (brought to my attention by the kids themselves) so I approached the other person and tried to address it with her and my boss Ron
  • I intervened in a domestic dispute between a camper and his dad by mediating the situation (they had DCF services don’t worry)
  • The younger kiddos didn’t want to play soccer as it was big vs little. I mediated the situation by taking the ones who didn’t want to play and instead played “Foot Catch” (we got sponsored by a soccer ball company or something so we had to play with the soccer balls I was told, so I found a creative way that met those expectations while also respecting the wishes of the kids)
  • I was great with the older kids too and could lay down the law when needed

  • Promoted good oral and personal hygiene by aiding patients with shaving, bathing, and teeth brushing.
  • Enhanced patient satisfaction by providing compassionate and attentive care.
  • Sienna LOVED her homemade mini pizzas and her doll’s house! I would pick her up from the bus stop and make her snack, help her with her homework and then we would play!
  • If she got overstimulated I would help to calm her down with slimes and fidgets or music
