Reading Recovery and Intervention Teacher

  • As a district employee, taught Reading Recovery in three different schools and to online students.
  • Designed individual lessons for students based on the needs they showed the previous lessons.
  • Helped teachers and coaches get accustomed to the FastBridge screening, monitoring, and interventions, problem-solving through both the logistics and the technology
  • Problem-solved for individual students and to help create the best groups to meet students’ literacy needs.
  • Regularly communicated with parents and classroom teachers in order to accurately portray progress and ensure appropriate support in multiple settings. Communication with parents was responsive to families – using phone calls, apps, email, or text based on family preference.

  • Led and assisted a variety of professional development on topics such as analyzing running records, Culturally Responsive Teaching, Courageous Conversations and setting Q-Comp goals.

  • Observed teachers: offered equity coaching and instructional coaching on instructional practices, and facilitated a reflection focused on educational equity with the teacher.
  • Helped organize the EL clustering protocols at Edgerton so that we could most effectively teach.

  • Assessed students using FastBridge and helped to analyze data to determine intervention needs and organize intervention groups based on needs
  • Worked with teams to set up whole-class and small-group intervention needs and assisted with setting up interventions as needed.
  • Acted as Internal Coach for Minnesota Reading and Math Corps, creating their schedules, orienting them to the school, and supervising and observing lessons.
  • Planned for, organized and conducted family involvement nights on a variety of topics – early literacy, windows and mirrors, and family-school connection focused on Hispanic families
  • Created and posted on the school Facebook page to provide another way for families to interact with the school.
