I have been a nurse for approx 15 years, I tried to remember all dates ass precise as possible. I love my job and assisting people medically/emotionally to be the best they can be. I am efficient at communicating well with people who have special needs. But have also had training through my jobs to learn how to communicate effectively. I am professional in charting, care planning and communicating with the rest of professionals on our team to convey the patient's needs.
I have worked for Comprehensive Healthcare, in nursing homes and at Kinderhaven in the past and very much value the time I have spent working with elderly, adults but especially children. Before becoming a nurse I also worked in the Zillah school district as a substitute para professional and during this time subbed in the special education classes a majority of the time.
While at kinderhafen, I have worked with children with complex health issues and some learning disabilities. While working I used a therapeutic communication, used redirections, distraction and positive reinforcements for behavior issues. I have really enjoyed my time working with the children and plan to stay per diem. Also, while working I provided trach and ventilator care, airway clearance, suctioning, G-tube and nasal gastric tube feedings, administered medications and monitored for effectiveness and ASE; changed dressings and trach ties, changed G-tubes and traches when ordered and as needed, skin assessment; Communicated with my team, communicated with co-workers effectively.
I had left my last job at two rivers as I wanted to work days rather than Noc shift. When hired at Kinderhafen I had agreed to work 1 year of nights. There are currently no day shifts open and I am looking for Monday through Friday 8 hour shifts rather than 12.5 hour shifts I am currently working.
I worked with acute and long term children from the age of 11-18 yo with mental health diagnosis. I administered medication, ordered medication, monitored for effectiveness and ASE of medications, communicated with providers and followed provider's orders, wound care, nursing documentation, used therapeutic approach and communication with children and families, admitted and discharged clients. As well as communicated and worked together with my team and helped to keep a safe environment for children and staff.
