Company Overview: Creative Testing Solutions is the largest nonprofit laboratory organization in the United States. CTS conducts customized laboratory testing of donor blood samples, allowing them to be safely used for patients in need.

• Clinical Laboratory Specialists use Xpress pooling machines, Grifols Panther platforms, and the new Alinity S system to consolidate and test samples for a wide range of diseases quickly and efficiently.
• Specifically a team member of the NAT laboratory area, conducting Nucleic Acid testing with accuracy and precision.
• Responsible for preparing appropriate amounts of reagent for each assay, applying calibrators and controls as needed, conducting daily maintenance and decontamination, timely reporting of results to the results release department, locating samples in need of additional testing, and discriminatory assay testing for reactive samples.
• Participant in two clinical trials - UltrioPLEX and Malaria Plasmodium. Each clinical trial involves using reagents that are in development, requiring specific training and new work flows.
• Minimized errors throughout pre-analytic and post-analytic processes by using Good Laboratory Practices consistently across daily activities.
• Able to meet client turnaround time expectations via strategic multitasking.
• Troubleshot problems with equipment or brought serious concerns to a supervisor or vendor.

Company Overview: Carolinas Medical Center is a flagship hospital of the Atrium Health system and a level one trauma center. Connected to the campus is the Levine Children's Hospital and Levine Cancer Institute.

• Responsibilities of a blood bank laboratory assistant included managing blood product allocation as ordered, dispensing to patient care staff, triggering trauma alert protocol, issuing mass transfusion packs and managing unit inventory.
• Quality control tasks involved nightly temperature checks, releasing units allocated for over 24 hours, generating inventory reports, and logging received blood products.
• Supplemental tasks included verifying patient records, utilizing EPIC for patient specimen acquisition, keeping up to date on SOP's, ensuring accurate documentation, and providing remote assistance to nurses and doctors.
• Additionally, maintaining lab cleanliness, restocking supplies, and organizing workspace were an essential part of this role.
