I am excited to apply for the Mentor position with your organization. While I may not have years of professional mentoring experience, I bring something just as valuable, lived experience, resilience, and a genuine passion for helping others overcome difficult circumstances.
There was a time in my life when I experienced homelessness and lost everything. I hit rock bottom, but I made the decision to change my life. Through hard work and determination, I became clean and sober, secured stable housing, obtained full-time employment, and regained full custody of my children. My journey has shown me that recovery and stability are possible, and I want to help others believe that they can achieve those same goals.
In addition to my lived experience, I have volunteered at a food pantry serving the houseless community. That experience reinforced my desire to support people with compassion, respect, and without judgment. I also have firsthand experience navigating the criminal justice system, which gives me an understanding of many of the barriers people face when trying to rebuild their lives.
I believe the most effective mentors are those who listen, encourage, and meet people where they are. My life experiences have taught me empathy, patience, perseverance, and the importance of never giving up on someone. I want to use my story to inspire hope and show others that lasting change is possible.
Thank you for considering my application. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my lived experience, dedication, and passion for helping others would make me a valuable member of your team.
Sincerely
Logan Harvey
