Work History

Mechanical Design Engineer

Projects Designed & Built, Inc.
01.2025 - Current
  • Manage full project lifecycle from quoting and concept development through mechanical design, build oversight, and final debug.
  • Design custom mechanical systems using Autodesk Inventor, ensuring manufacturability and performance across diverse automation and tooling applications.
  • Collaborate closely with fabrication and assembly teams to streamline build processes and resolve design issues in real time.
  • Leverage AI tools including ChatGPT to accelerate design ideation, technical documentation, and problem-solving.
  • Utilize Counterpart ERP system to manage part tracking, BOMs, and project timelines in a fast-paced, design-to-build environment.

Tooling Engineer

Tenneco Inc
04.2024 - 09.2024
  • Managing new coolant project that will recycle draw coolant, clean it, and send it back to the presses from a central station. This project is estimated to save 50% in coolant usage.
  • Design to change the stamping process, which would double productivity with the potential to increase productivity by 4x in the future.
  • Design new wrap-up die that will remove a step from the complete manufacturing process, resulting in annual savings of $624,000.
  • Managing three departments on the metals side of the plant. Responsible for tooling design, tooling development, product launch, quality concerns, troubleshooting, ordering tooling, managing relations with vendors and much more.
  • Standardized punch sizes across all high-volume parts. Implemented carbide coatings to increase tool life. The coatings have increased tool life by over 2x.
  • Lead new product launches from design all the way to production. Lead designer for all manufacturing of draws, wrap-ups, and ferrules. New standards allowing for in-press developments to be finished in one day instead of a full week.
  • Managing relationships with vendors that are crucial to the plant's performance.
  • Work closely with quality team to ensure the production of high-quality parts.
  • Directed team of toolmakers, responsible for supporting production and quality needs.

Manufacturing Design Engineer

Tenneco Inc
11.2021 - 04.2024
  • Lead engineer on multiple high-volume runners in the draws department and have been able to see substantial output increase due to tooling optimization.
  • Lead designer of new feed track installed on one of the through feed double disc grinders. • Lead project engineer for implementation of servo controls on double-disc grind process.
  • Productivity improvements in the draws department. Metal stamping simulation in Altair Inspire Form to get theoretical results on changes/improvements in tooling.
  • Lead designer for control arm department upgrades and developments.
  • Equipment design and modifications for Tier 1 customers such as Tesla, Ford, and Stellantis. Hands-on experience with production robots and a general understanding of faults that occur and how to correct these faults.
  • Update former drawings and models to resemble active revisions.

Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op

Tenneco Inc
06.2019 - 09.2020
  • Worked in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Fusion 360 to create 3-D models of given projects.
  • Designed two capsules to assemble exhaust isolators for Ford. Designed a gauge for one of the capsules to ensure Ford exhaust isolator meets specs called out in detailed part print.
  • Designed a one-cylinder setup for a cropper which was the first step in assembling automotive links for suspension systems.
  • Worked with the tool room to develop code using Fusion 360 for CNC control applications.

Laborer

Gerken Paving
06.2016 - 08.2019
  • Read job maps, set up zone flips and lane switches. • Oversaw the crew when needed.
  • Responsible for putting up barrel/cone zones and signs on major highways and county roads.
  • Helped regulate traffic as a flagger for the paving and milling crews.
