Creating an orientation schedule and manual for fellow employees in the preoperative and postoperative units. Maintaining standing orders for physicians working at ASOC. Working with physicians and anesthesiologists regarding standing orders. Maintaining a record of mandatory staff competencies. Admitting patients to preoperative and postoperative units. Starting IVs, answering patients’ questions regarding the surgery, and prepping the patients for surgery: scrubs, 12 lead EKG, etc. Recovering patients, maintaining oral airways of the recovery patients. Patient and family teaching were also included in these duties. I've also worked with pain care patients, assisting the Anesthesiologist with epidural injections, trigger point injections, and prolo therapy. This facility has since dissolved since my employment.

Employed at Baptist Medical Center in the Outpatient Orthopedic Surgical Center in the preoperative and postoperative areas. Duties include admitting patients and preparing them for surgery, including starting IVs, doing scrubs, recovering patients, extubating patients, and discharge teaching. I also obtained my RN III during this time period as well as assisting with setting up the new computer system for chart documentation and orientating fellow staff members on the use of the computers.

Employed at Baptist Medical Center in the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit. Duties include taking care of ventilator patients, patients with feeding tubes, G-tubes, J-tubes, arterial lines, CVPs, Swan Ganz, Quinton catheters, ICP monitors, Halo tractions, colostomies, open wounds requiring wet-to-dry dressing changes, and extubating patient. Patients included in care were trauma, surgical, cardiac, overnight recovery, paraplegic, and quadriplegic patients. Assisted in bedside procedures such as oral intubations, insertion of arterial lines, Swan Ganz Central Venous Pressure lines, Quinton catheters, subclavian catheters, chest tubes, and ICP monitors. I was also orientated to charge.

Employed at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. I worked as a pool RN in the MICU, CCU, SICU, CVICU, and ER departments. My duties in these areas were the same as mentioned above while working at Baptist Medical Center in SICU. While working in MICU I performed the role of charge nurse. While working in CVICU I was responsible for working with open-heart surgical patients, recovering these patients immediately postoperatively, and taking care of patients on the balloon pump.
