I am an SLP with a passion for patient-centered care. I have 18 years of experience in a variety of settings and am currently licensed in both VA and CA.
Assisted in training staff SLPs in FEES interpretation and documentation, and collaborated with pts and IDT members to make appropriate recommendations and referrals
Performed both MBS and FEES for people dealing with acute and/or chronic dysphagia. Visualization and biofeedback were used to train compensatory swallowing strategies and pharyngeal strengthening exercises in real time.
Flexible coverage between the hospital's acute care, outpatient, and inpatient rehab settings. This required knowledge of and ability to adjust tx plans for: aphasia, dysarthria, dysphagia, cognitive impairment, and voice disorders including muscle tension dysphonia.
Weekly participation in IDT meetings to discuss discharge recommendations and safe transitions to next level of care for acute rehab pts
Performed inpatient and outpatient MBS studies, and assisted pts in developing personalized dysphagia tx plans
For this largely geriatric, dysphagia-based caseload, I engaged in chart review, rehab and IDT discussions, and completed bedside swallow evaluations and MBS studies
Extensive family education and support were provided to aid in symptom management
In this setting, I was trained in both MBS and FEES. For over six months, I was mentored in performing and interpreting FEES, as well as in thorough documentation of study findings. I was deemed competent in FEES in Nov. 2021 (documentation is attached).
Bedside dysphagia and aphasia evaluations were completed, and tx plans were paired with pt/family education to improve carryover and success.
This setting allowed me the opportunity to teach graduate level students and facilitate their ability to manage a SNF caseload
Standardized measures were used to evaluate speech/language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders
Developed and progressed pt specific treatment plans to improve success and safety in the next level of care
Collaboration with a team of SLPs to determine appropriate rehab courses for short and long term SNF residents
Analysis and intervention for a variety of disorders including head & neck cancer, laryngectomy, tracheostomy, oral & pharyngeal resections, stroke, TBI, and other neurological disorders
