In addition to my 7th grade ELA position, I taught one small group Tier 2 reading class a day providing support for students who needed targeted intervention. My small group would change throughout the year. As students reached individual proficiency based on regular progress monitoring, they would return to the Tier 1 classroom and other students who needed support and intervention would join my group.
I was the only ELA teacher for 7th grade. I saw all 7th grade students daily. The 8th grade ELA teacher and I collaborated well and shared data collected through DIBELS and DRA2. We used this data to drive our instruction and keep standards we were teaching vertically aligned. ELA teachers from grades 7-12 met once a month to evaluate students progress as well as address any vertical alignment issues, suggestions, and successes.
I was a specials teacher for Life Skills. Life Skills was a curriculum designed to teach skills of daily living, functional skills necessary for independent living, personal growth, and vocational success. The specials classes rotated every nine weeks. By the end of the year, I had taught all students in grades 5-8.

I stepped in to support two other teachers who faced unexpected health issues. I took on the duties for those classroom teachers by writing lesson plans, grading student work, attending weekly teacher team meetings, and attending parent-teacher conferences.
I worked on an on-call basis to follow lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher, manage classroom behavior, and ensure student safety throughout the school day.
