  • Provide direct instruction in visual efficiency, braille, assistive technology, auditory skills, low vision devices, and Expanded Core Curriculum required to meet the unique needs of the visually impaired student.
  • Conduct Functional Vision and Learning Media Assessments (FVLMA), Cortical Visual Assessments (CVA), including written reports, recommendations, referrals to Low Vision exams and Orientation & Mobility evaluations.
  • Itinerant teaching that requires management of time for assessments, instruction, planning, preparation of materials, travel, IEP meetings and consultation.
  • Create and manage IEPs to define student learning objectives and educational strategies, in addition to applying instructional knowledge and methods to support goals.
  • Educate, support and collaborate with other members of the instructional team who work with the student who is visually impaired to ensure that appropriate programming is being implemented.
  • Teach students across multiple classifications and degrees of special needs. PK-12: students with Low Vision, Blindness, CVI, Deaf-blind, and various eye diseases.

  • One-on-One with a student who had Autism. This included: modifying instructional materials for his disability and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). This targeted socially significant behavior skills for this student and his unique needs.
  • Collaborated with other instructional assistants and teachers to provide comprehensive support to students and deliver instruction aligned with curriculum standards.
