Performs pharmaceutical procedures for medication preparation and distribution that ensures safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy. Prepares, compounds, packages, labels, and dispenses medication, and nutritional products

Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety

Adheres to all standards, procedures, cleaning protocols, and infection control polices to maintain a safe and sterile medication area, clean rooms, and laminar flow hoods

• Establish a list of home medications for patients admitted to the hospital
• Information is obtained via patient/family/caregiver interviews, health care providers records (physicians, care facilities, etc) and pharmacies to ensure completeness and accuracy
• Verify and document patient allergies

Assisting in receiving and putting away medications from daily distributer order

Organized and ensured medications ordered for UC Davis outpatient clinics went out with couriers daily

• Supply and monitor robotic machines that dispense medicine into containers and label the containers (Script-Pro)
• Fill medication bottles with prescribed medications and affix labels
• Submit claims to insurance for payment
• Initiate prior authorizations for insurance approval
• Assist customers by answering questions, locating items or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information
• Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, check for outdated medications in current inventory and inform supervisors of stock needs and shortages
• Operate cash registers to accept payment from customers
