I am an active volunteer for the Sam Waxman Cancer Research Foundation. Each year, I canvas businesses and stores for donations of items to contribute to both live and silent auctions at all of their events. My contributions bring in an average of $20,000-$25,000 to the foundation
I am involved with the Ellis Island Medal of Honor Organization.
I have been involved with a Foundation for Wounded Veterans with PTSD, who receive dogs for support. Unfortunately the head of that organization passed away several months ago, and it hasn't been determined what will become of the organization.
I collect penguins. (they are like comical people). My collection includes over 300 pieces made of china, wood, wax, metal, paper mache, and other substances.
I love to travel. My husband and I have been to Singapore, Dubai, all over Europe, and the Leeward and Caribbean Islands
BEFORE MY CAREER IN REAL ESTATE
Before I decided to become a licensed real estate professional, I was an Art Teacher at a Junior High School in Canarsie Brooklyn, where I taught seventh, eighth and ninth graders. I loved those kids! My seventh graders were still children, my eighth graders were raised in the jungle and brought up by Tarzan, and my ninth graders were young adults. I worked with some of my ninth graders, preparing their portfolios for entry into some of the specialized high schools (The High School of Art and Design, Fashion Institute of Technology, Fashion Industries). All of the students whose portfolio's I worked on gained entrance into those competitive schools. I am delighted to say that many of my students are Facebook friends with me today!

I am known as "The Angel of Facebook". I conduct prayer vigils for people in need of the extra support of prayer, who have health issues or emotional support. I have almost 5,000 facebook friends, and I refer to them as my "Earth Angels". When someone is in need of prayer, an advocate contacts me, and I post a prayer vigil on my wall: CALLING MY EARTH ANGELS. My friends leave the most beautiful prayers in the comments section.
MY HUSBAND AND I SAVED A PERSON'S LIFE
A desperate message for help was being shared on Facebook. And it wound up on my wall. Someone was in need of a kidney and his time was running out. I noticed that he was living in a local area, so I contacted him. His Nephrologist had taken him off dialysis, and he was told that he had approximately three months to live. So I told him about a friend of mine who is a Nephrologist in Idaho. He had told me that it was easier to get a kidney there than in the Metropolitan area of New York City. (There was a wait-list of over 100,000 people). I tried to contact my Idaho friend, but he was somewhere in the mountains in Nepal, contributing medical supplies. So I told the person who needed the kidney about my husband. My husband is Marvin Scott, who is a television journalist for WPIX in NYC. I promised to talk to Marvin about the situation, and hoped that maybe Marvin would do a story, so that the net could be thrown even wider to hundreds of thousands of viewers who might donate a kidney. Marvin did the story, and as a result, 12 donors came forward. None was a match, but the 13th one was. And Brett Ashley got a new kidney, and is alive and well today. What an amazing feeling to save a life!
