For the quarterly awards that are presented at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort, there is a rigorous review process. The candidate's recommendation must meet or excel a broad multitude of criteria, and there is no guarantee that an award will be presented every quarter (for example, there was no Front of House submission deemed worthy of the award during Q1 2026, so this area did not issue an award). I was delighted, and thankful, that one of my colleagues took the time and effort to write up a recommendation that held up to the selection process. To summarize the recommendation, it read that my performance extended beyond my specialty, the numbers. Descriptions of team support, empathy, and setting an example were provided. While I was certainly grateful to receive the award, I also appreciated the drive it gave me to "live up to the ideal".
