I worked for Lilco starting in March of 1986, then in May of 1998, Lilco was taken over by Keyspan, and then in August of 2007, Keyspan was taken over by National Grid.
1986 - 2001 - Administrative Assistant - Electric Overhead & Underground Lines Department. Duties included payroll, ordering material daily for crews, answering phones, customer complaints, working in conjunction with other utilities such as Cablevision and Verizon, two-way radio communication with crews, fielding emergency calls from crews in case of electric contact accident, motor vehicle accident or illness.
Worked directly for the Area Supervisor and Field Supervisors. Mandatory storm restoration duty during rain, snow, ice storms, wind events, or hurricanes, which entailed dispatching of in-house or contractors crews to outages.
2001 - 2005 - Work Coordinator - Electric Overhead Department. Duties included scheduling daily work for overhead in-house and contractor crews, ordering material, scheduling outages, fielded customer complaints, tracked budgets for transmission and distribution projects. Also worked during storm restoration, dispatching crews and making sure restoration of jobs were completed in a timely manner. Performed stand-by duty 4 - 6 times per year, which was a week of being on call for 24 hours a day in case a crew was needed for either an overhead or underground emergency.
2005 - 2011 - Field Supervisor - Supervised Overhead electric crews ensuring they completed their work and followed all safety rules. Evaluated work sites and pre-checked work orders so work could be be set-up for crews. Evaluated foremen and linemen once a year. Met with customers or other utilities either to field complaints or questions concerning the work. Worked in conjunction with the Electric Service Department to coordinate emergency service work or electric procedures. Also worked storm restoration ensuring crews were dispatched to jobs with proper material and restoring customer's electric in a timely manner and working safely. Also worked 4 to 6 standbys a year.
All of these positions I worked extended hours including holidays and weekends due to emergencies.
