I am a Senior at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, California. At school, I am a member of the Associated Student Body and have served in leadership positions as the Freshmen Treasurer and as the Executive Treasurer in both my Junior and Senior year. In addition to my work in student government, I also lead the school’s Speech and Debate Club (President and Founder), I am the treasurer for the Korean Culture and Appreciation Club, and I am involved in Smile SCV, National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation, I am a 1 Year Varsity Football Athlete, and a 4 Year Varsity Track Athlete (Team Captain and Social Media Manager).
White attending high school, I am also enrolled in classes at College of the Canyons, where I have already earned 20 college credits and am on track to earn over 40 credits by the end of my senior year in high school. At College of the Canyons, I am on the Law Career Pathway and plan to attend a 4-year college majoring in Political Science and then pursue my Juris Doctorate Law Degree.
Outside of school, I am a member of the Boy Scouts of America, where I have learned life and leadership skills that I am confident will be beneficial throughout my lifetime. I have served as Senior Patrol Leader in Boy Scouts, and successfully led a group of 60 Scouts for an entire year. I am finishing work on my Eagle Scout Award, which is the highest honor and award in scouting.
I am a Peer Leader at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church where I lead a group of teens on their mission to grow deeper in the Catholic faith. I also serve as a church Lector and read scripture during Mass. I have attended national leadership camps, including National Youth Leadership Training (a 1-week course through Scouting), and the CADA leadership camp (California Association of Directors of Activities).
I have volunteered 100+ hours of community service for non-profit organizations such as the Santa Clarita Food Pantry and for service projects at local churches and plan to continue volunteering in my community where my service can be of value. I have led an effort with people I know to bring awareness to Mental Health Issues and am a big supporter of efforts to pursue a solution to the Mental Health crisis. I read about the subject and hope to pursue a more direct involvement in promoting mental health awareness not only in my school but also in the community. I believe in trying to do anything I can to end the suffering of those who struggle with mental health issues.
With other activities such as school and sports, evenings during the week are best along with all day on the weekends.
