I am a currently a Freshman In colledge who is attending Seton Hall University and perusing a career in Finance. While attending Colledge full time, I also work a part time job 3 days or 25 hours a week on days which I do not have class. In addition I also play on the Seton Hall Ice hockey team and have been playing hockey since I was 4 years old which has taught me how to be part of a team and work hard towards something. I got my highschool education from Bergen Catholic highschool which is a highly esteemed all boys Catholic school In Oradell nj. Through attending Bergen Catholic I believe it was able to set me up for my future and teach me skills and Ideas I would not have learned from attending traditional public school. At Bergen Catholic I was exposed to teachers who truly seemed to care about me and my future as well as classmates who had similar aspirations of success to mine. I would describe myself as a curious person always looking to try new things and build up my life experience.
My Forth and current Job Is working as a Yard Worker/ Forklift Operator for the company Braen Stone Supply mainly at their Wanaque Location. I started at Brane in the summer as a full time employee and transitioned to part time when I became a full time colledge student in late august. At Brane I was able to get forklift certified, with my daily responsibilities including operating my forklift to load orders for customers and trucks that go out for shipping. At Brane I had to learn the product we sell and where it is located which includes a vast amount of stones consisting of different colors shapes and sizes, as well as other masonry related product. Learning these products was challenging due to the amount of I had to learn and I am still Learning new things everyday I work. In addition to learning product I also Learned how to collaborate with team member to complete task I cant do on my own or asking other employees for help when I need it and helping my fellow employees when they need it.
My 3rd Job, and my last job I worked while being a highschool student was working as a Host at Red Lobster. As a host at Red Lobster I had several Responsibilities which included seating guest, answering the phone, Communicating with customers, servers, managers, and kitchen staff, Cleaning tables and other surfaces, and making Restaurant Is running smoothly. At this Job I had more Responsibility than my previous two and had to do more work when it came to communicating with customer and fellow employees and making decisions on my own rather than just following simple instructions. At this job I had to take phone calls and solve problems throughout the day while also making sure tables and their corresponding servers are being sat fairly and efficiently.
Panera Bread was my second Job I worked from my Junior year of highschool to my Senior year of Highschool over a time period of a little under a year. My Job as a food production worker at panera bread had similar requirements to my first job at quick Chek, with me having to do things such as prepare food in a timely manner, make sure my station remained clean and sanitary, and to work in conjunction with my fellow employees to make sure all task are completed thoroughly. I was able to use many of the skills I learned from my previous Job; quick check, such as communication skills and food production to help me be an effective member of the team. Many days our restaurant was very busy or our workers were understaffed which allowed me to learn how to work efficiently in stressful situations, I received many compliments from my managers regarding my work ethic and leadership skills which I continued to develope in my following Jobs
Quick Chek was my first Job which I got shortly after turning 16, during my sophomore year of highschool. As an employee I was required to prepare food, help customers, collaborate with team members, and complete other task such as cleaning and stocking products. Here I was able to learn for the first time what it was like to be in a Professional work environment where I had responsibilities and expectations to perform certain duties. While working at quick chek I was able to connect with new people, learn skills, and gain experience that I would be able to take with me to my following jobs. I eventually left Quick check in september when I began my junior year of highschool to focus on my academics and athletics.
