  • We (Penhall) are currently working for Kiewit at the Abernethy Bridge in Oregon City, West Linn, drilling dowel holes. We are drilling anywhere from 1" holes 22" deep, 1 1/8" holes 25" deep, and 1 1/4" holes 28" deep.
  • We are also epoxying rebar into those holes. We have been at the job for approximately a year and a half.
  • My duties include driving a company box truck that stores all of our tools, materials, and PPE for all of the employees who work for Penhall. I go to the Penhall shop every morning to pick up the box truck, and every evening I drop the truck off as well.
  • I make sure the box truck is full of diesel, stocked with supplies, and equipped with PPE. I currently have a company fuel card as well.
  • Core drill from 5/8" diameter holes to 18" diameter holes, up to 2 feet deep.
  • Flat saw, concrete cutter as well, diesel-powered, as well as electric flat saw, compatible with 480 power.
  • Also labored for the wall saw, helped set up the track, blade, and controls.
  • General labor, as well as vacuum slurry, towed generator with the flatbed. Removed concrete slabs with a hand cart.
  • Assisted in training new employees on the use of cutting machines and related equipment.
  • Performed physical and visual quality control inspections at different stages in process to quickly identify issues.
  • Adjusted machine settings as needed based on type of material being cut.
  • Used hand, power, and pneumatic tools to efficiently and accurately complete projects.
  • Managed cutting machine to complete work.

  • Duties included setting up traffic closures between Keizer and Woodburn on I-5.

Custom

  • I chose to pursue a career in the criminal justice field but ultimately did not work, once that happened I decided to join the Laborers Union (Local 737). I submitted an application online & soon there after got a phone call for an interview. I enrolled in the Apprenticeship program & completed the program within two years. I have been with Penhall for 5 years. I was put into a combo truck while i was still an apprentice & went to do service work on my own. I journeyed out with Penhall & enjoy working with them.
