My name is Lucy Miller, and I've been actively involved in organized sports since my early junior high years. Throughout my journey, I have had the privilege of playing with various teams, each experience enriching my understanding of essential life skills such as sacrifice, teamwork, leadership, respect for authority, and the grit required to overcome challenges.
Though my teams and I have faced our share of disappointments, such as reaching the state level without securing a win, these experiences have been invaluable. They have taught me the importance of trusting my teammates, celebrating small victories, and maintaining a positive outlook in the face of adversity. Volleyball, in particular, has instilled in me the ability to navigate challenges both on and off the court, reinforcing the importance of unity and perseverance in all aspects of life.
Living in a family of six while being homeschooled was pretty cool and definitely different. I had to learn to be flexible and adaptive, which I consider to strong part of my character. These are qualities, while often difficult in the moment, produce traits I am grateful to learned. Being around my siblings all the time meant were close and learn to encourage and support each other in both time of challenge and celebration. Homeschooling let me learn at my own pace and dive into what I was really interested in. It taught me to be self-motivated and love learning. Overall, it shaped who I am, giving me a tight-knit family and a big curiosity about the world.
At Chick-fil-A, I learned to meet customers needs and genuinely enjoyed serving every guest that came through the door. It was fulfilling to make sure each person had a great experience. I love the service mindset culture of Chick-fil-a and it focus of servant leadership.
