Bachelor's Degree Project – Partial Replacement of Coarse Aggregate with Broken Ceramic Tiles
(Project Team Leader)
This study was selected with the aim of improving concrete characteristics through the utilization of discarded construction waste, specifically broken tiles
Integrating these materials into the concrete mixture has the potential to render it cost-effective, while meeting the necessary standards
Studied all the previously performed research on the partial replacement of materials to increase the properties of conventional concrete
Collected the required materials and made batch mixes of different proportions, increasing the percentage of broken tiles with aggregate, and made concrete blocks
Performed the laboratory tests to evaluate the concrete blocks and their strengths
In conclusion, substituting 40% broken tiles and 60% coarse aggregate within the overall coarse aggregate composition yielded optimal strength characteristics, thereby enhancing the conventional concrete's durability and cost-effectiveness for construction applications
