Having attended five different schools, I’ve learned how to adapt quickly to new environments, connect with diverse groups of people, and build a sense of community no matter where I am. Constantly transitioning between schools taught me to be observant, resourceful, and proactive about forming relationships—skills that translate directly into the RA role. I understand what it feels like to be the “new person,” which helps me empathize with residents who may be adjusting to campus life or feeling overwhelmed. Because I’ve navigated many different school cultures and communication styles, I’m comfortable mediating conflicts, supporting students from various backgrounds, and promoting an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere. Overall, my experiences have strengthened my ability to lead, listen, solve problems, and create a supportive community—qualities that would make me an effective and approachable RA.
