As a transportation security officer, it is my duty to ensure the safety of travel for both people and commerce. Every day I am challenged to use critical thinking skills to make quick and efficient decisions that protect the traveling public. My duties include the ability to use several different screening tools such as an x-ray, walkthrough metal detector, a body scanner, and explosive trace detector. When a passenger requires special assistance due to medical devices, the leadership of my lane will come to me to preform the screening process. My leadership team trusts that I will not miss anything on the passenger and that I conduct myself in a friendly, yet professional manner, that is useful when dealing with delicate passenger interactions. I am also entrusted with identifying the difference between a fraudulent and real state issued or government issued ID while checking a passenger's documents. I assist leadership with tasks above my job description such as sending fellow officers on breaks, rotating them to different positions and overall ensuring the efficiency of an active screening lane. In times of heavy passenger intake my Supervisory officers entrust me with resolving a variety of alarms assisting my fellow officers with guidance on resolution steps. Each morning I take the initiative in taking count of available inventory to help ensure we can perform our duties. I also have knowledge of how to properly set up each of the many different screening tools we use each day. I am entrusted by the training department and leadership in training/coaching new trainees and newly certified officers. I watch over them giving them guidance on how to efficiently screen passengers, while being able to identify potential threats. I document their progression as time goes by, which involves evaluating their progress and pointing out which areas of screening they are doing well and which areas they must improve in. I ensure their ability to perform each of the job tasks properly in order to protect the public before they are able to work on their own. I am certified in all the latest screening procedures and equipment available at Boston Logan International.
During my time as a Smart Home Expert I was given the task with consulting with customers in-person or virtually to design and implement customized smart home solutions. Assessing their needs, recommending compatible devices from various brands, and providing installation and setup guidance for smart home products like thermostats, lighting systems, security cameras, and voice assistants, all while ensuring a seamless user experience and addressing any technical concerns they may have. My supervisors entrusted me with teaching my fellow coworkers on the different types of products we sell and making sure they could do it affectively. I made sure I was knowledgeable in not only the devices i was put to sell, but others as well.
