Luis Tijerina

Graduated from San Antonio Police Academy in 2006.
Assigned to South Patrol C-shift from December 2006 to July 2017, providing police services and crime prevention to the community.
Promoted to detective-investigator in March 2017, focusing on crime scene patrol and as Uniform Evidence Detective, responsible for minor crime scene investigations.
From March 2019 to January 2023, I conducted follow-up investigations at South Property Crimes, filing cases with District Attorney's office.
Supervised East Patrol Dogwatch as Field Training Sergeant from January 2023 to January 2024.
My current assignment is at Central SAFFE where I have been since January 2024.

As a crime scene investigator, I was responsible for processing all types of crime scenes out in the field. They ranged from misdemeanors to felonies. The duties included but were not limited to photographing, sketching, identifying and collecting evidence. Additionally, I served as a witness for the department and have experience testifying in court. Additionally, my job duties also included:

• Reported results of investigations with written observations and photographs, and produced final reports.
• Searched for clues to gather evidence for court cases or private clients.
• Liaised with law enforcement agencies to investigate and solve crimes.
• Worked with different units (sometimes other agencies) to secure crime scenes and prevent evidence contamination.

Under general supervision, some of my responsibilities included processing 911 calls and other related dispatch duties. My main assignment in this office was the performance of police services over the telephone to include expediting police offense/incident reports to free officers in the field.
