Worked six months as a apprentice ,then promoted to crewleader (foreman), unspike rail , shovel balse rock, use torch to cut lining bars off rail , oxcetyline/oxygen tanks , use rail saw to cut 1in. gap between rails , use taper gauge to measure height of rail alingement ,use claps for cad weld set- up, ceramic molds to surround weld area , use bentnit clay to feel gaps around molds , preheat with a rosebud stem , both sides of rail ,close to five min. , then set crusable , (canister) filled with certain types of shreaded metal material , ignight sparkler , ensert into crusable , it then would turn to melted lava , go threw hole at bottom of canister , fill weld gap , excess metal would run out into slag pans , then it's time frame count down procedure to break down weld , process of taking mold shoes off , shearing the top of weld , grinding top and sides flush , respiking the rail , filling in whole with balse rock , make two rails one unified rail , cleaning up any and all excess material , getting in your truck , which are equipped with high railers , and you head to next weld location.
