  • Oversaw installation of new TOX, SCR and supporting equipment to met EPA required NOx removal.
  • Successful completion of this project in accordance with approved budget. New scrubber was turned over to operations in time to meet EPA compliance deadline.
  • EPA Project at Borger facility ($80M) /EPA Project at Belpre facility ($70M).
  • Oversaw large portfolio (Borger and Belpre simultaneously) of projects to support EPA Consent Decree
  • Report progress and influence positive outcomes for key stakeholders (Board of Directors).
  • Maintained schedules to meet key milestones at every project phase.
  • Communicated project plans and progress to key stakeholders and project contributors.

Project Manager

Air Products & Chemicals Inc
Houston, TX
05.2018 - 06.2019

HYCO Capital Project Manager

  • Manage capital projects in the HyCO West Gulf Coast region. Responsible for all aspects of project evolution from concept to execution for a wide variety of small to large projects in the Texas/Louisiana area
  • Lead multi disciplinary teams to implement EH&S, productivity improvement and reliability projects in coordination with the operating facilities
  • Responsible for project planning and execution for planned plant turnarounds
  • Responsible for project safety, maintaining project budget and schedule, and ensure all projects align with operations expectations/requirements at turn over

Olefin's Maintenance Engineer

INEOS Chocolate Bayou
Alvin, TX
04.2017 - 02.2018
  • Provide front line mechanical technical support and solutions to the Asset. Work effectively with the Functional Engineering, Production Optimization and Asset Project teams to support identification of challenges/threats and develop appropriate, fit for purpose solutions that meet cost criteria
  • Manage preventive maintenance work activities while expanding my mechanical equipment knowledge base, and driving continuous improvement of organizational capabilities to achieve best in class unit reliability
  • Planned and managed concurrent job time lines and provided technical direction for multidisciplinary maintenance groups (scaffolding, insulators, welders, refractory workers, etc.) to work seamlessly and efficiently, with minimal equipment down time
  • Created scope of work documents (included bill of materials and detailed drawings) and specified all aspects of production, fabrication and manufacturing methods based on operating history and lessons learned. Conducted bid evaluations to ensure cost effective manufacturing and on time delivery from reliable vendor

Key Projects:

Sample Station Redesign Project

  • Used Six Sigma methodology to identified root cause for tube fouling in previous sample station system Determined optimal sample station location that minimized cost by limiting tubing run and utilizing pressure drop across a valve to replace a pump Designed custom sample station that eliminated future fouling with the implementation of heat tracing , coalescent filters, nitrogen purge capability and optional offline recirculation capabilities.

Compressor Troubleshooting Project

  • Conducted root cause and failure analysis to diagnose cause of frequent bearing replacements. Established lube oil heat exchanger inefficiency to be the underlying factor Researched historical data on exchanger and determined failure modes to be untreated raw water and missed PMs causing fouling resulting in decreased heat transfer Recommended that PM cycle be linked with compressor outages and requested exchanger cleaning at first available outage.

Mechanical Project Engineer

INEOS O&P USA
Chocolate Bayou
05.2014 - 05.2018

Project lead for LAO/PAO Site Integration Project ($100M CAPEX Project)

  • Project lead for engineering design packages for site integration preparation for new LAO and PAO units
  • Responsibilities include conformity to SHE policies and procedures, development of work scope including bid packages, project management, identification of site permit requirements, vendor selection, facilitate technical reviews, and conduct constructability reviews
  • Tasked with the creation of technical mechanical specifications, review/approval of client specifications, technically evaluate bids, and issue order packages for equipment and coordinate
    review of vendor drawings/data

Key Results:

  • Doubled the site capacity to off load polypropylene pellets from railcar to trucks with new transload facility design (Improved from 5 trucks to 10 trucks simultaneously offloading capacity)
  • Upgraded instrument air compressor capability from 1500 scfm to 5600 scfm by installing new state of the art compressor which eliminated incurred cost of four compressor rentals resulting in a savings of ~$380K per year
  • The new reliable compressor will eliminate ~$750K per year related to down time, maintenance and loss of production

Capital Project Engineer - FEL Lead ($500K -$10MM)

  • Mechanical lead tasked with drafting design basis for capital projects and spear heading FEL process
  • Responsibilities include, identifying the core problem, evaluating potential solutions, attaining stakeholder buy-in, and execution of projects within predetermined budget and time frame and in accordance with SHE standards
  • Coordinated cross-functional project teams which include representatives from engineering, operations, maintenance, environmental, safety, plant management and company SME

Key Results:

  • Bad Actor Valve Turnaround Replacement project replaced 71 large bore manual valves with a history of 7 recordable safety incidents (over previous 8 years) resulted in a savings of ~$1.5MM due to downtime, incurred maintenance cost
  • For the Hydrocarbon Recovery Line Replacement Project (CAPEX $15MM), I developed a piping system infrastructure that can be utilized to recover hydrocarbons during unit upset conditions. In 2015 and 2016, flaring events resulted in over $6MM in loss of product as well as environmental penalties.
  • I spear-headed a safety observation initiative in my business unit that challenged each of the engineering disciplines to complete quality safety observations. This exciting challenge increased observations and life critical audits across the plant by 300%. This initiative has been paramount in reinforcing the safety culture and has been recognized by the leadership team.
