• Owned the core Bird system managing fleet deployments. Extreme ownership from feature evolution to production monitoring.

Architected and cooperatively built a new platform for Steelhouse's core business including a sensitive migration of users. Dynamic enough to house their various legacy models, scalable enough to grow orders of magnitude, it enables new capacities in automation.

TripAdvisor created our Analytics team inviting five engineers including myself to reinvent our BI platform. Our platform has since gained quick popularity around the company due to the way in which it empowers analysts and product managers to answer questions that just weren't possible before.

• Built a data warehousing and analytics platform leveraging Hadoop/Hive, Amazon's Redshift and Tableau.
• Automated a table deletion process to archive and drop unused data resulting in a 2.5x performance increase.

• Part of a small team who developed TripAdvisor's "Answers" frontend module.  This project was seen as a huge success that touched every major tier of the Tripadvisor.com infrastructure.
• Implemented an intelligent batch and triggered emailing service designed to source answers to questions from our users by asking TripAdvisor members and hoteliers.

• Led 7 developers on a major site rebuild over a period of 5 months.
• Designed the security framework based on Apache Shiro, annotations, and a keep-your-data-safe re-login flow.
• Collaboratively designed and developed many of Virtualtourist's key projects.
• Implemented a modularization framework including parallelized data requests, partial page updates via Ajax, and loosely coupled views to the underlying REST-based data services.

• Developed the CSS and javascript build system empowering engineers to iterate on JS/CSS with a 0 second iteration time including automatic minification, obfuscation and many performance and load-time enhancements aimed at deferring as much javascript load and processing as possible.
• Architected our CDN integration, caching and invalidation strategies.
