Currently, I am a student attending SUNY Plattsburgh as an Ecology major and looking into minoring in related fields such as Environmental Science, GIS, or Biology. I am looking for jobs that will hire me for internships or work related to my major either part time during school or full time during the summer. Closing in on the end of this year I only have about 3 years of work experience and some experience doing odd jobs. As of now I have completed over half of my Bachelor's degree and would consider further education for the right job. I have had a lot of classes that have expanded my knowledge on lab and field work in the sciences as well as good knowledge of Excel, some in GIS mapping, and other similar computer programs. I have had the opportunity to obtain an Applied Environmental Science certificate. This gave me lots of time out in the field learning proper procedures and giving me a hands on experience of research first hand. In one of the programs I was able to conduct my own research project and present my findings. Living in the Adirondacks I have some experience identifying plants or using taxonomic keys and is something I would be willing to study further. I have had jobs that have required me to take leadership roles and maintain crews in a productive fashion. Most of my jobs have required me to communicate with customers closely and in a friendly manner. All of my jobs have required me to think quickly on my feet and problem solve. Painting forced me to really put my best foot forward in making sure every little detail is perfect in order to please a customer. Accountability has never been an issue for me as I usually show up early and always willing to stay late.
An institute in the area works closely with my college and offers an Applied Environmental Science Program. This allows you to take three of their classes to obtain this certificate. The certificate signifies that you were able to complete hands on research and learning.
