Professional Summary
To leverage my leadership and administrative skills to support student success and achieve institutional goals, such as fostering a positive learning environment, ensuring compliance with regulations, and building strong community relationships. As the Dean of Retention, I would serve as the lead administrator for the counseling department, student support programs, preside over meetings, and serve as representative to the college's management leadership team. I would also coordinate with other administrators in promoting an inclusive school culture that celebrates diversity, champions the idea of equity and inclusion, while promoting academic excellence within our student body. These objectives will be achieved through intentional staff and faculty collaboration, careful fiscal management, and thoughtful student services and programs.
I currently run the Restorative Practice, Study Skills department, and assist administration with discipline and supervision. Restorative Practices Role- I currently manage students who have been suspended from their classroom. It is my job as the restorative practices teacher to communicate with both teacher and student about the infraction to gain clarity and restore the student back to the learning environment. This is usually achieved through an understanding of how the learning environment was disrupted and exploring alternate ways that the student could be heard. In other cases, I would speak with the teacher to explore options that would assist in managing and understanding a student's unique challenges in the classroom setting and making adjustments based on these needs. For example, if a student is chronically late to school because his/her parent or guardian has to take younger siblings to school first, the classroom teacher would make adjustments and allowances for this student as opposed to penalizing the student for their tardiness.
