  • Position within the Human Factors and System Management team, which supports the Exploration Medical Capability (ExMC) Element of the NASA Human Research Program (HRP).
  • As team lead, work with the ExMC Element Manager, Element Scientist, Deputy Element Manager, Deputy Element Scientist, and Associate Element Scientist and with ExMC team members at JSC and across three other NASA Centers: Ames Research Center (ARC) in Mountain View, CA; Glenn Research Center (GRC) in Cleveland, OH; and Langley Research Center (LaRC) in Hampton, VA.
  • Duties include leveraging medical knowledge, NASA experience, and organizational skills to guide technical resources of the ExMC Clinical Science Team (CST) in the support of the HRP and represent the ExMC CST in key forums and conferences.
  • As a member of the ExMC CST, provide medical expertise to inform ExMC priorities and clinical content for ExMC deliverables, including exploration medical system design, requirements review, medical risk assessment and reduction.

  • Management of CST work efforts with regard to the Informing Mission Planning via Analysis of Complex Tradespaces (IMPACT) Evidence Library, including tracking IMPACT deliverables for project status and metrics reporting.
  • Documenting clinician processes for IMPACT medical tool validation and Transition-to-Operations reviews.
  • Assisting with the configuration management of Evidence Library products, deliverables, and websites.
  • Providing Colorado University subcontract students and faculty with technical guidance and administrative support to meet EL deliverables.
  • Ensuring the appropriate Evidence Library technical content is available to and integrated with IMPACT architecture designers, Model Based Systems Engineering team, and MEDPRAT probabilistic risk assessment modeling team.
  • Work assignment and distribution among a minimum of 10 geographically dispersed ExMC clinicians (across multiple medical specialties) based on project needs, project deadlines and resource time allocations.
