As a CNA I worked on an Oncology Unit. Took vital signs, changed dressings, bathed and cared for patients. Also performed postmortem care.

As an RN, I worked in Labor and Delivery and cared for mothers while they were in labor and postpartum. I also cared for newborns and was NALS certified.

Cared for patients at home by teaching them about their medicines, wound changes, IV therapy. Monitored Coumadin levels, checked blood sugars, and drew blood and took it to the lab.

Supervised the nurses and CNAs, passed medications, did blood sugars, took care of hospice residents, helped changed the residents, and feed them. At times, just sat and talked with them when they needed that.

This was a long term substitution job. Took care of children ages 10-14. Care of injuries, illnesses, did vision and hearing screening, monitored for scoliosis. Gave medication to children.

Was a school nurse for pregnant teenagers. Mentored these young ladies. Taught about pregnancy, care of their bodies, care of the newborn, and parenting classes. Coordinated for special speakers to come and speak to these girls about a number of different subjects. Took care of them when they were ill. Took care of their babies after they had them and returned to school. Coordinated an exercise program for these girls, also.

Schedule CNA classes and coordinate teachers. Schedule Health professions classes throughout the year which includes coordinating eight to nine different classes at a time and scheduling teachers for this. Also, hire and terminate employees as needed. Assist in the classroom. Manage these classes at night. Tutor students, handle student complaints, and teacher complaints. Make sure teachers and students have books they need. Orient new students to the program.
