Care of a wide variety of complex medical, surgical, and oncology pts in a large teaching hospital.

On rehab unit, provided care and worked on a team built of physical, occupational, and speech therapists, as well as hospitalists and physiatrist with rotating charge nurse duties. On IMC, care of pt's on antiarrhythmic gtts, bipap for acute resp failure, post cardiac interventions, ICU step downs.

Provide and manage care of patients being observed for a variety of conditions to rule out a condition (TIA vs. Stroke, syncope, chest pain, etc.) to determine whether safe for discharge or need further interventions requiring inpatient admission. Also providing care to outpatient surgical or cath lab patients staying overnight.

• Determined medical necessity and cost-effectiveness of services through utilization review processes.
• Applied medical criteria and clinical judgement to researched cases to evaluate and establish determinations.
• Referred cases to secondary review for failure to meet inpatient criteria.
• Reviewed patient admissions to determine medical necessity as directed by MCG criteria.

Break nurse that provided PCU floor nurses their 10 min and lunch breaks, assuming care of nurse's team while they were off the floor.

Provided care to critically ill patients on ventilators, vasopressor drips, requiring constant and frequent intervention and monitoring.

Provided care to variety of both medical and surgical patients requiring telemetry monitoring.

Over 4 year course, worked on PCU floor as staff nurse, took a 7 month break to become chemo certified and work in chemo clinic, then returned to PCU as break nurse

• Coordinated patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Made patient assignments, often taking my own team. Trained and mentored new RNs, serving as resource. Directed unit staff and promoted quality care for diverse patients.

• Concurrent review of medical record to analyze for complete and accurate documentation to reflect severity of illness and intensity of service and maintain integrity of documentation.

Coordinated and provided direct care of patients requiring postop care for a variety of orthopedic and general surgeries: THA, TKA, back surgeries, lap chole, appendectomy, etc.

Provided care of cardiac patients post interventions: PCI including sheath removal, ablation, ICD/pacemaker insertion, postop cardiac surgeries: CABG, valve repair/replacement, CHF treatment with IV diuresis or ultrafiltration, research study for effectiveness of Nesiritide for CHF, management of arrhythmias with antiarrythmics, treatment of pulmonary HTN with vasodilators and anti-proliferative agents.

Coordinated and provided care of mainly medical patients requiring telemetry monitoring.

Provided and coordinated step down level care to medical and surgical patients requiring frequent assessments and interventions.

Provided care to women for a variety of gynecological conditions: medical, surgical, and oncology
