Fieldwork Experience

  • Level II: Page Memorial Hospital, Transitional Care Unit. Luray, VA 9/2019-12/2019

Worked full-time in a transitional care unit at a critical access  hospital where I reviewed medical charts, attended interdisciplinary  team meetings, completed evaluations and assessments, and  planned and implemented treatment plans to patients. Began as  observing the role of OT in this setting and eventually transitioned  into managing my own caseload.  

  • Level II: Manassas Health and Rehabilitation, Skilled Nursing Facility. Manassas, VA 6/2019-9/2019 Worked full-time in a skilled nursing facility where I completed medical chart reviews, completed evaluations and assessments, attended weekly interdisciplinary meetings, and planned and implemented both individual and group treatments to patients. Began as observing the role of OT in this setting and eventually transitioned into managing my own caseload.
  • Level I: Warren Memorial Hospital: Outpatient. Front Royal, VA Spring 2019 Observed the role of OT in this setting and saw a wide range of diagnoses including: Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injury, CVA, several orthopedic Injuries, Cerebral Palsy, functional neurological disorders, and wrist fractures. I would arrive once a week for 12 weeks, and by the end of 12 weeks, I planned and implemented 2-3 treatment sessions and practiced my documentations skills in SOAP format.
  • Level I: Occupational Therapy Clinical Education Services, Summer Autism Camp. Harrisonburg, VA Summer 2018 Worked with children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder over the course of 4 weeks. Encouraged sensory exploration, fine motor activities, gross motor activities, and developed coping strategies for the campers. There was interdisciplinary collaboration with Speech and Language Pathology (SLP) students during this camp in order to maximize quality of care for the campers. Front Royal Parkinson's Disease Support Group: Currently running a support group for caregivers and patients with Parkinson's disease. Providing socialization opportunities, education, guest speakers, and activities to promote health and accessibility for this population. December 2022- Current. Meeting once a month

Wampler and Associates Rehabilitation : Volunteered in a  Parkinson's Neuro-wellness Program where I learned skills in fall prevention and guided group interventions that were research based. This program met twice a week for one hour each during the  time I was in graduate school. Fall 2017-Spring 2019  

Rock Steady Boxing, Fighting Back Against Parkinson's :  Volunteered in a boxing group to promote health and wellness for  individuals with Parkinson's disease. Aided with set up, spotting  clients, and running stations. This program met three times a week  for 1.5 hours each. Summer 2018 

YMCA Neuro-Wellness Program : Volunteered in this program to  assist with guiding one-on-one interventions for individuals after a  stroke and/or individuals with neuro-degenerative disorders. This  program met twice a week for one hour each. Summer 2018
