Installation Technician

CI laundry
bloomington, Illinois
09.2024 - 05.2025

Being a washer and dryer installer required a variety of different trade knowledge; as a washer and dryer installer, I was responsible for.

  • Transporting cargo all across the states of Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri.
  • Gathering materials in a warehouse for very big laundromat jobs, and loading them on trucks for transportation to big jobs.
  • Landing 240V MC to hard-mount dryers.
  • Building additional gas lines for dryers.
  • Leveling and grouting hard-mount washers and dryers.
  • Using a hammer drill to drill multiple holes for steel bases for the hard mount washers.
  • Building walls or cutting into walls to fit the dryers in place, and to make the laundromat neat to the eye.
  • Using a magnetic drill to drill holes through steel bases for hard-mount washers.
  • Carrying steel bases that weigh from 200 lbs to 500 lbs into laundromats for placement.
  • Working in extremely confined, dark spaces in between washers and behind dryers.
  • Cutting and installing 8 in and 10 in straight and elbow sheet metal for ventilation.
  • Knowing how to problem-solve, no matter the size of the problem.

Being an install tech required me to be able to work irregular hours, and to drive long hours after very long workdays.

The biggest trait I took from this job was being able to learn something different, and learn it quickly.

Another additional value I learned from CI laundry was tool knowledge and how and when to use certain tools in particular situations.
