Student nurse - Med surge
During Level 2 of my nursing program, I completed eight shifts on the Neuro/Telemetry floor, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in patient care. I practiced IV insertions, wound care, and the administration of various medications, including oral, intravenous, and subcutaneous routes. Additionally, I assisted with patient mobility, monitored vital signs, and performed initial assessments, further developing my clinical judgment and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment.

Student Nurse - ICU
During Level 3 of my nursing program, I completed three clinical rotations in the Trauma (TICU), Surgical (SICU), and Medical (MICU) Intensive Care Units, where I gained exposure to critically ill and complex patients. I practiced advanced nursing skills such as urinary catheter insertion, titration of vasoactive medications, and comprehensive patient assessments under close supervision. These experiences strengthened my understanding of hemodynamic stability, ventilator management, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Working in the ICU enhanced my ability to think critically, prioritize care, and respond confidently in high-acuity situations.

Student Nurse - Labor and delivery
During Level 3 of my nursing program, I completed two clinical rotations in Labor and Delivery, where I gained hands-on experience in maternal, fetal, and newborn care. I observed and assisted with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, fetal monitoring, and postpartum assessments. These experiences deepened my understanding of intrapartum nursing, patient education, and family-centered care. I developed confidence in providing compassionate support to mothers and families while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to promote safe and positive birth outcomes.
