Summary

My education, work experience, and passion has prepared me to work diligently to generate positive change in the communities I come in contact with. My work with Mirror has given me first-hand experience meeting clients where they are at and offering them support and resources so that they may reach long-term recovery. Offender Victim Ministries has provided me experience with building rapport and strengthening interpersonal relations. Aluminum Insights has instilled in me a strong work ethic and problem solving skills, ensuring excellence in each project I undertake. The Social Work Department at Bethel College has provided me with cultural humility skills, interview skills, as well as the ability to assess communities, groups, individuals, and agencies. I am prepared to advocate for my clients and help others meet their needs.

Mirror is one of the largest treatment provider for Substance Use Disorders in the state of Kansas. As an intern in the Residential Treatment Facility, I did the following:

  • Assessed clients using the American Society of Addictions Medicine (ASAM) assessment.
  • Co-facilitated clinical groups using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) materials and methods.
  • Created treatment plans with our clients.
  • Aided my supervisor in completing diagnoses.
  • Wrote discharge summaries.
  • Met with clients one-on-one to discuss their progress, their treatment plan tasks, and worked with them to form a discharge plan.
  • Documented notes from group and individual sessions.
  • Participated and provided feedback during daily staff meetings.
