Summary

I'm in my last semester of college planning to graduate in May with a degree in Special Education and a focus in learning disabilities and emotional/behavioral disorders. From my student teaching experiences I've gained a passion in teaching social emotional learning skills. After working as an associate at The Schenck School in Atlanta Georgia over the previous three summers I've also become passionate about teaching phonics.

  • For my student teaching experience I spend half the day at Murry- LaSaine Montessori School and Stiles Point Elementary school.
  • I have participated in a workshop to pick new curriculums, IEP meetings, and an evaluation meeting.
  • My cooperating teacher has lead me in coming up with social emotional learning lesson plans for some of our students.
  • I have participated in grading students progress monitoring assessments, and administering them.
  • After lessons I've tested students' comprehension of the content while keeping them engaged.

  • During this experience I was working with sixth grade students in a resource room and in their general education.
  • I assisted with my cooperating teaching in making a positive intervention plan one of our students.
  • During our inclusion class I was able to work specifically with an English for Speakers of Other Languages who is diagnosed with autism, sparking an interest in ESOL.

  • For the past three summers I worked as a summer associate at The Schenck School in Atlanta Georgia, which is a school that specializes in learning disabilities.
  • I was able to work with with grades kindergarten through third grade.
  • We specifically worked on early reading skills by teaching phonics and decoding skills through the Orton-Gillingham curriculum.
  • During the summer of 2023 I lead an after school Harry Potter camp.

  • In the Spring of 2023 I was placed at Memminger Elementary to observe and start to teaching small groups in the resource classroom.
  • I was working with third and fifth graders with specific learning disabilties on reading and math.
  • This was also a great opportunity to get familiar with the CCSD curriculums and testing formats, and to start sitting in on IEPs.
