I never got the privilege of growing up with horses although I’ve always had a strong passion for them. I started working at Somers Lane equestrian center on July 29, 2022. And within the time I have been there, I have learned basic barn care, basic horse care, lunging, riding, teaching beginners and Littles programs, training new employees, having an eye for lameness and knowing how to assess it, basic safety in all horse handling aspects, client communication, and more. I have attended several academies and completed several online courses to help enhance my knowledge of the equine industry.
My training philosophy is for the horse to feel safe in my care, to trust my direction, and be refreshed and happy going back to their stall. I want to know the horse trust my boundaries and that I will trust theirs too. I want the horse to feel safe and connected to me and to have a mutual understanding of each other.
My goals are to pave the way for beginners and make them feel confident to move to the next stage of their riding/learning career. I want to continue a path in equine lameness, assessment, rehabilitation, and general husbandry. I want to continue riding and enhancing my abilities under saddle. I also want to continue groundwork and ensuring a good trust between the person and the horse.
