Maddie Ostler joined Guardianship Associates of Utah in 2016, bringing a lifelong dedication to advocacy within the disability and mental health communities. In 2022, she was given the role of Executive Director and leads the agency’s guardianship and conservatorship services while championing statewide education through initiatives like GAU’s specialized Pro Se Training programs. Maddie serves as a Certified Professional Guardian, with deep expertise supporting individuals with complex medical, cognitive, and behavioral needs. She has worked closely with the Office of Public Guardian, the Department of Human Services, and the Division of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD) to ensure ethical, trauma-informed care, and systems navigation. She is currently the only DSPD-certified Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) guardian in the state of Utah, a distinction that reflects her commitment to high standards, person-first advocacy. Maddie is widely recognized as a leading voice for transparent, integrity-based guardianship practices across the state.
As Executive Director of Utah’s first and only nonprofit professional guardianship agency, Maddie oversee all operational, legal, and ethical dimensions of care for protected adults under court appointment. As the only ABISC Certified Guardian in the State of Utah, Maddie specializes in caring for individuals suffering from a traumatic brain injury. In tandem, Maddie serves as a Certified National Guardian, directly managing high-risk, high-need adult clients, over 100 in total, for almost 10 years. We assist individuals in navigating complex medical, legal, and mental health systems to safeguard their autonomy, dignity, and safety.

Served as a primary advocate and case manager for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities receiving DSPD services. Worked in partnership with families, providers, and state systems to build person-centered service plans that prioritized independence, safety, and dignity.

Served as the lead administrative support for a busy medical office within Utah’s largest healthcare system. Oversaw front-line patient services, coordinated with clinical staff, and trained new hires to ensure a seamless and compassionate care experience for all patients.
