I have achieved so much here, first is learning how to manage the boarding department . Secondly is how to be a leader by example. I am able to make certain calls to better my staff and the pets in my care, building connections with clients and pets no matter the hardships behind it. Here I also made sure we were always advocating for the pet and the pets needs. Making sure the work load is equally divided and every one is working efficiently and with care. Teaching and learning the proper ways to clean/disinfect and what right chemicals to use that is not harmful for the right amount of care to be given to the pets. I would keep track of all project lists meaning initial of every thing that was getting done for the daily tasks and deep cleaning tasks. I also worked with my team in cleaning kennels, feeding pets, walking pets, bathing pets, over all caring for the pets and the needs around them.
I Developed strategies to improve operational efficiency while maintaining high standards of animal care.
I would help check in pets at 7am drop offs and get them ready for the day . Here I learned time and management and how to stay alert at all times. I would make breakfast to all the ones who were needing to be fed for the morning/day one by one in the kitchen area. I would let them all outside and play ball, let them run and have time in the sun. Here I also learned more about dog behavior and what signs to look for when he/she is not comfortable of feels unsafe.
My first summer job, I learned step by step the process of how to correctly bathe And prepare pets for a nice spa treatment (I like to call it). Here I would get them prepped and ready for the groomer, I would bathe them following it by a nice blow dry, comb and brush them getting any knots that were able to be brushed out before heading over to the groomer. Here I also learned how to clean/pluck ears, shaving between paw pads, the proper way to handle/hold the pet and also watching for certain pet behaviors.
