• Supported labor patients with a wide range of pain management options including nitrous oxide, TENS therapy, sterile water injections, IV analgesics and epidural anesthesia.
• Floated to postpartum as needed, managed a 4:1 couplet ratio while performing newborn screens, glucose monitoring and routine maternal-newborn assessments.
• Partnered with certified nurse-midwives to promote patient-centered, low-intervention birth practices.

• 14 bed unit, 350 deliveries per month
• Utilized advanced fetal heart monitoring interpretation to assess fetal wellbeing and proactively respond to non-reassuring fetal status.
• Circulated in the OR for scheduled and emergent cesarean deliveries, D&Cs, bilateral tubal ligations and hysterectomies, coordinated with surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure safe patient outcomes.
• Performed assessments of the newborn in the first two hours of life to include assigning APGARS, determining a ballard score, taking vitals every 30 minutes and blood glucose checks when appropriate.
• Advocated for laboring patients from immigrant and safety-net communities, addressed language and socioeconomic barriers by utilizing certified translators and providing comprehensive patient education.
• Managed high risk pregnancies including preeclampsia, gestational diabetes and PPROM.

• 33 bed LDRP unit, 412 deliveries per month, Level III NICU
• Cared for high-risk antepartum and laboring patients as early as 28 weeks gestation, coordinated care with level III NICU team to prepare for preterm delivery and neonatal stabilization.
• Assessed patients during the first two hours of the postpartum period by performing fundal massages, taking vital signs and ensuring that motor and bladder function have returned to baseline after epidural removal.
• Guided mothers through labor utilizing an assortment of holistic interventions such a heat application, breathing techniques, hydrotherapy, movement and frequent repositioning.
• Assisted physician during delivery, examination and surgical procedures by anticipating needs, coaching patient, and attending to baby after birth.

• Provided patient-centered care for critically ill patients experiencing a variety of traumas including gun shot wounds, motor vehicle accidents, traumatic brain injuries, drug and alcohol withdrawal, and orthopedic trauma.
• Implemented post-op orders such as monitoring vital signs, managing supplemental oxygen needs, providing pain management, performing spinal, neurological and neurovascular checks, evaluating and treating wounds and progressing patients’ diet.
