At the Oak Lawn Park District, I have been dancing since I was 6 years old, then once I turned 15 I had a clear interest in teaching classes myself. In which I had observed my dance teachers for the overall experience and the skills I strived to pick up. When I was 16 years old; I then started working the summer dance camps and dance classes. Truly, it was an amazing experience and taught me various skills; individually and socially.

Summer Dance Camps Consisted of:

• Planned dance routines to show parents at the end of camp
• Introduce friendly games to participate in and interact with one another
• Go outside and play on the playground
• Utilized different styles of teaching to accommodate the students capabilities.

At the Burbank Park District I taught various styles, such as; Tap, Jazz, and Hip Hop of ages 9 and up. I was truly grateful and beyond excited to have the opportunity to teach and brainstorm ideas for my classes. I believe that doing what I love most and teaching the kids, all in all, helped to project that same love onto them and I can see they enjoyed the routines and games we would do after class.

Important Factors to the Job:

• Planned various routines for recitals and performances.
• Creating a safe, entertaining, and positive learning environment
• Developed personalized lesson plans that attend to individual student needs, resulting in improved dance skills.
• Implementing rules that promote a sense of guided listening for students and respect for the instructor/classmates.
