Research Projects

1. Heat Transfer effects over human body due to exposure of extreme heat- Thesis Project (in collaboration with Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering (ASU) from Aug 2023- May 2024)

  • The objective of this study is to demonstrate a simple and easy way to fabricate three-cylinder short-wave and long-wave radiometer that also measures the cylinder’s convection coefficient. My role was-
    ● Fusing the idea of a three-globe radiometer-anemometer developed by with cylindrical representation of a human body.
    ● Analyzing the data from Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) experiments using MATLAB.
    ● Comparing the short-wave, long-wave, total radiation, and mean radiant temperature (MRT) values and calculating using the integral radiation measurement (IRM).

2. Retraction, Deployment, and Steering for Solar Sailing (RDS3) - NASA Project (in collaboration with NASA from May 2023- Aug 2023)

  • This proposal discusses the development of RDS3, a deployment, retraction, and steering system used for interstellar missions using solar sail technology. RDS3 aims to overcome limitations by introducing a self-folding, boom less design capable of deploying and retracting itself multiple times during a mission. My role as a Principal Investigator-
    ● Designing the reusable model architecture for the sail using CAD modeling software.
    ● Planning the path for the mission using MATLAB codes and GMAT for the trajectories.
    ● Thinking critically about the team roles and managing the team for the project.

3. Design and Development of low-cost 3D mapping Collision Avoidance System - RISE Project (sponsored by and collaboration with RISE from Aug 2021- June 2022)

  • Collision avoidance system also known as a pre-crash system, or collision mitigation system, is an advanced driver- assistance system designed to prevent or reduce the severity of a collision. The objective was to develop an effective, economical, and stable UAV which has a highly efficient Collision avoidance system. My role was-
    ● Implementing and calibrating LIDAR sensors to have a virtual map of the surroundings using Arduino software.
    ● Planning the path for the system using MATLAB and the design of the model using CATIA V5.
    ● Using GPS and Google Earth Pro for highly accurate terrain mapping systems and path-finding.

4. Nano sized Flapping wing Surveillance Aerial Vehicle (Nano- Fly) - RISE Project (sponsored by and collaboration with RISE from Feb 2020- Sept 2021)

  • Nano- Fly is a bio mimicked micro-Arial vehicle (MAV) that works on flapping wing mechanism. The objective of the project was to come up with an all-purpose micro-autonomous vehicle. My role was-
    ● Building the model with the help of CATIA V5, SolidWorks and 3D printing.
    ● Performing the experiments in the 2nd and 3rd phase of designing using MATLAB for lift, power and flapping frequency.
    ● Selecting the avionics such as on-board computer and multi-sensor-suite for the vehicle.
